Most of them are only opened during the winter months from June till September, except for Snowplanet in Auckland which is indoors. At Mt. Ruapehu it is possible to attend summer skiing, which is from December till February.
New Zealand Hiking in the land of the long white cloud is a must when visiting. Over 30 percent of the country is officially protected, though open for public visit.
