The Aurora Borealis known as the northern and southern natural lights displays in the sky. If you want a trip for vacation, try Aurora borealis expedition in any part of northern regions. In particular with Northern Norway, it is one of the best locations in Europe wherein sightseers are well-placed to observe the meteor shower.

You will be truly amazed with the spectacular view to see northern lights which can be spotted to the poles because of the field is magnetic and the darkness takes a long period of time.

The lights in the north was discovered by a French Scientist [Pierre Gassendi], and called it after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora; while Borealis was added by him after the name of the Roman god of the north wind, Boreas. That is why, the north light became known as Aurora Borealis.

There are optional excursions to take in order to witness Aurora borealis, rather get information online on how to be part in Aurora borealis expedition. Through the expedition you will get the chance to capture the northern lights exposed to the night sky blended by showering shooting stars or meteors.

In addition to the Aurora Borealis information, according to the researchers, the atmosphere contains many gases; nitrogen and oxygen are the principal gases; the lights are caused by the gases particles responding the earth’s upper atmosphere which makes the gases glow. Most shapes of the lights are formed doughnuts or known as auroral oval surrounding the North or South Poles.

People from the tropical and temperate regions go far to the north and south poles to just witness the display of light across the sky as if it dances with the spirits. These phenomena are called Aurora borealis. Colorful colored lights are being splashed over the skies and can be seen only at night. It usually occurs on the month of March through April and from September through October in the polar regions of the globe.

Aurora borealis was ones seen in Spain in 1938 January. The skies in Barcelona just light up with colorful glow in middle of the war thus causing fear for the soldiers on that time.

Now that the aurora borealis is much studied and understood compared decades ago it is being watched and waited over by people in the Polar Regions. In fact, aurora expeditions are so much in demand in north and south places like Antarctica.

Aurora borealis watching could be the main adventure activity with side excursion activities like walking on glaciers, walking expeditions and lots of other adventure activities.

The Antarctica continent is so full of extreme that people thought there is nothing to do there;a continent full of ice and kilometers of plain desert. The Maker had indeed made the creations of things so balanced for it has blessed and gifted Antarctica with such humbling human experience; the dances with the spirits called aurora borealis.
